Also raised in South Florida, Dr. Michael Maruri (Dr. Mike) graduated from South Miami Senior High.  At a young age, Dr. Mike excelled in the areas of Academics and Sports, especially in Sciences and Basketball.  Despite his athletic ability and considerable height, Dr. Mike passed up numerous opportunities to play college basketball to be a Gator, and studied Engineering at the University of Florida.  At UF, he earned a Master’s of Engineering, and played the role of lecturer and administrator throughout his tenure as a student.  Dr. Mike was drawn towards Dentistry and specifically Orthodontics by a strong affinity for biology and mechanics.  Dr. Mike returned to his home in South Florida to attend Nova Southeastern College of Dental Medicine, where he graduated with top honors earning him a coveted spot at the University of Colorado Orthodontic program.

Out West, Dr. Mike trained with top Orthodontic practitioners in the field utilizing the most modern techniques in which he developed a mastery of the most up-to-date methods and concepts that the discipline of Orthodontics can offer.  Dr. Mike has applied his craft to better the lives of hundreds of children and adults one smile at a time.  In addition to treating hundreds of conventional cases with braces, he participated with Children’s Hospital Cleft Palate/Craniofacial Anomalies Board where he worked with surgeons to perform life altering treatment for children afflicted with cleft palates and cleft lips.  Dr. Mike was honored and humbled by his experiences in his program, and have and will continue to serve him throughout his career.

Dr. Mike places the bar of success very high for his patients.  His measure of Orthodontic success following treatment is two-fold: a beautiful esthetic smile and a functional and sustainable occlusion (“bite”).  Dr. Mike believes in adopting a treatment plan that will not only straighten teeth, but achieve a healthy, functional occlusion (“bite”) that will serve a patient throughout their lifetime.  He hopes that his training and experience will serve his patients well throughout his career.

In 2010, Dr. Mike associated with Dr. Schwartz.  As most patients and professionals in the Plantation area know, Dr. Schwartz has had a reputation of Orthodontic excellence for over 30 years.  Dr. Schwartz recognized Dr. Mike’s similar philosophy of dedication to his patients and personal commitment to their satisfaction.  Dr. Mike looks forward to caring for Dr. Schwartz’s patients and welcoming newcomers to the practice.  He hopes to add smiles to the community, one person at a time.
